Description of Streamr DATAcoin (DATA)

Streamr Origin

 Release date: December, 2017.

Streamr is an off-chain network with a primary focus centered on data monetization and as an exchange. The project was founded by Henri Pihkala (CEO), who previously served as both a CTO and CEO for two algorithmic trading companies and carries over 10 years of experience in real time data processing.

 What is DATA?

Streamr, built on Ethereum, allows smart contracts to take grant people and machines to exchange data across its in-built network. Stream also provides users with an intuitive marketplace through which they can consume or place data. Application creators can take advantage by the data streams provided by Streamrs network and marketplace to power their decentralized applications. Additionally, Internet of Things (IoT) machines can share data between one another on a global scale.

 DATA ecosystem.

The projects ecosystem is built up out of brokers, consumers, and publishers. Data entering the ecosystem is submitted as an event on the network. Essentially, publishers place data, onto the platform. This data can then be purchased by users (consumers) through the use of the platforms DATA token (ERC20).

Brokers are tasked with publishing data events, managing storage, communicating back and forth with ETH nodes, and subscribing to various data streams.

Streamr also carries a multi-layer technology stack. Which is meant to support data entering the ecosystems pipeline. The stack is composed of five individual yet interacting with one another parts. These are known as the Streamr Editor, Engine, Data Market, Network, and Smart Contracts. With each stack part executing a critical task within the ecosystem.
